
STRUCTURAL DESIGN
Structural design is a complex creative and technical process. Preparing the design documentation involves engineers carrying out feasibility studies, structural engineers, process engineers, building-services engineers, architects, cost specialists and others. To coordinate and govern this work, design typically progresses through the following stages: feasibility studies; terms of reference and design contract; preliminary (concept) design for client approval; technical design; and detailed (working) design (if commissioned).
